Technology OverviewAgile Planet develops robotic manipulation software and safety technology that can be easily integrated in to medical, industrial and defense applications that demand superior performance coupled with the reliability and rigor of industrial controls technology. Agile Planet was founded in 2007 to meet the growing demand for advanced, innovative robotics software and solutions. While working as a robotics scientist for the University of Texas at Austin, Chetan Kapoor, Agile Planet’s president and founder, helped to develop a revolutionary software platform that maximizes the performance of robots, originally known as Operational Software Components for Advanced Robots, or OSCAR. Agile Planet based its core technology, Kinematix™, on the OSCAR software and now holds the exclusive rights to this technology. Developed with funding from NASA, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and other governmental agencies, this software now has over 1,000 users worldwide. The technology is currently being leveraged by leading organizations and institutions including the German Aerospace Center (DLR), MIT, the Indian Institute of Technology, Larsen and Toubro, Toshiba, Samsung, Kuka and ABB. This technology has been successfully used to conceptualize and demonstrate robotic trauma care, industrial robot control, complex robotic assembly, telerobotics, space robotics, etc. The Technology Creates Innovative Solutions Agile Planet's motion control and motion planning technology provides a set of high-performance software modules that can be used to develop motion controllers, robot controllers and medical devices that require motion capabilities. Agile Planet's safety technology is based on its proprietary safety architecture that utilizes industrial safety-rated controls and integrates them with intelligent software to offer a high performance, yet safe system for use in critical applications in medical and defense markets. |
